This Season

The dirt is tilled
Retaining wall is in place

Lets get it on!

A big issue in lasts years garden was that because it is on a slight slope, all the beautiful dirt I put in slid down and not much grew up top. The water didn't stick either. So....we installed a retaining wall. We also fixed our watering issue. The sprinkler head that was in the garden was converted into a drip system.  No more fungus growing on the leaves due to watering from above! I feel more positive about actually growing everything we plant this year.

In our 30x10 space this years crops hope to include:
Peas
Beans
Turnip
Carrot
Cucumber
Tomato
Onion
Zukes
Squash
Various lettuce
Collards
Chamomile
Pumpkin
Watermelon
Cantaloupe

In a container i will try strawberries and I may try to plant basil, thyme, chives and oregano in a smaller planter towards the back of the yard.

I know this seems like a lot, but last year nothing lived long enough to produce. We did have plenty of tomatoes, zuke and squash though. If I could plant more, I would!!

Wish me luck! Any suggestions are welcome.
Garden

Space I'm gonna use for herbs

And we get our compost on!

I AM SPARTAN! Rawr

I've been training for this since December.  Actually the Tough Mudder but I decided to do the Spartan Race instead because I wasn't ready for 10 miles, mud and obstacles. I finished this race in 2:02. It was hard, mainly because it was only 45 degrees, windy and jumping into water made it worse. I am proud but am gonna hold off on doing any more mud runs for awhile. They always seem to be too far from home which means an hour and a half cold, wet muddy ride home. Next: 5K's and maybe The Bolder Boulder....
